Knitting Pattern Specifications & Instructions

Yarn Requirements

Nomad Worsted Weight 100 gram skein (109-130 yards)

Needles and Materials

4.0 mm (US 6) double-pointed needles

Gauge: 5 sts = 1 inch.

Finished Sizes (in inches): Women’s shoe size 5 - 11.

Please read over all instructions before beginning to knit.


Instructions

Begin at Top of Sock

Cast 40 sts on one needle. Divide sts onto 3 needles: 14 sts on 2 needles, 12 sts on one needle. Being careful not to twist sts, join into round and mark beg of round.
Rnd 1: *k2, p2, rep from * to end of rnd. Repeat rnd 1 for 7 inches.

Divide for Heel

K 20 sts onto 1 needle for heel.
Without knitting, divide remaining 20 sts onto 2 needles to be worked later as instep.
Work back and forth, turning after each row on the 20 heel sts:
Row 1: Sl 1 st purlwise, p19.
Row 2: Sl 1 st knitwise, k19.
Repeat these rows for a total of 17 rows (ending with row 1).

Turn Heel

Work in short rows as follows:
Row 1: Sl 1, k10, ssk, k1, turn.
Row 2: Sl 1, p3, p2tog, p1, turn.
Row 3: Sl 1, k4, ssk, k1, turn.
Row 4: Sl 1, p5, p2tog, p1, turn.
Row 5: Sl 1, k6, ssk, k1, turn.
Row 6: Sl 1, p7, p2tog, p1, turn.
Row 7: Sl 1, k8, ssk, k1, turn.
Row 8: Sl 1, p9, p2tog, p1, turn.
Row 9: K across the 12 heel sts (do not turn).
With the same needle, pick up and k 11 sts along the side of heel.
With a 2nd needle, k across the 20 instep sts.
With a 3rd needle, pick up and k
11 sts along the other side of heel and k6 heel sts. The middle of the heel is now the beginning of rnd.
K 1 round.

Shape Gusset

Rnd 1: Needle 1 - k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Needle 2 - k.
Needle 3 - k1, ssk, k to end.
Rnd 2: K.
Work these 2 rnds until there are 10 sts on needle 1 and 3, 20 sts on needle 2 (40 sts total).

Foot of Sock

K each rnd. Measuring from heel, continue until foot measures 2 inches less than desired length.

Shape Toe

Rnd 1: Needle 1 - k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Needle 2 - k1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.
Needle 3 - k1, ssk, k to end.
Rnd 2: K.
Continue these 2 rnds until there are 20 sts total: 5 on needle 1, 10 on needle 2, and 5 on needle 3.
Work rnd 1 on each rnd until 8 sts remain. Cut yarn and use a tapestry needle to thread the yarn through remaining sts, tie off and weave in the ends.
